The Metropolitan Police Service Emerald Society was formed in November 2005 by a handful of staff interested in promoting the Irish within the force. Amongst their aims are::

· Promoting an understanding of the Irish within the MPS;

· Providing advice and support;

· A reference for cultural issues which affect front line policing;

· Playing an active role in Irish related social events.
