Workshops:
This conference is aimed specifically at commissioners and providers of mental health services in Greater Manchester. More than ever there is a national consensus that engaging directly with communities and the services that support them is key to addressing mental health needs faced by individuals across different ethnic groups.
It is the forming of strong partnerships across commissioners, communities and voluntary and statutory mental health providers which can prove crucial to ensuring that needs are identified, solutions are explored and key stakeholders work together towards reducing mental distress experienced by individuals and supporting families, carers and the wider community to support and cope with the difficulties mental health can cause.
This seminar is designed to support the
development of these important partnerships. It aims to give commissioners a
unique opportunity to meet and engage with the Irish community across Greater
Manchester, to hear of some of the specific needs of our community, to learn
about innovative ways in which the Irish voluntary sector in Britain have
responded to the needs of their community and examples of some of our most
successful partnerships with statutory mental health services. Drawing on the
experiences of agencies from Greater Manchester and the wider North West area we can
forge effective responses to meet the specific needs of Irish people which so
often go unrecognised.
