London Irish Centre Celebrates Bloomsday 2010

The London Irish Centre in Camden will be celebrating Bloomsday in style on June 16th

The team at LIC are planning a raucous evening of readings, music, food and maybe the odd glass of stout on Bloomsday, June 16th at 8.00 p.m.

Peter Hammond, Director of the Centre says that it has nothing to do with the fact that he himself is as Dublin as the Halfpenny Bridge. "No, we would celebrate the day, even if Leopold Bloom did his famous wandering around Tullamore."

If you don't know already, Bloomsday marks the day in 1904 when the fictional Leopold Bloom went meandering through the streets of Dublin. It has been celebrated in Dublin for over 50 years.

Peter Hammond explained further: "It struck us that we have the makings of a great Bloomsday under our roof here. As well as the extensive facilities of the Centre, and our excellent catering facilities, we have London Irish Theatre, which has just won Fringe Theatre Company of the Year Award 2010. The Company's writers and actors, are working on creating an evening that promises to be something to really savour".
