London v Underdogs: ladies Gaelic Football Match 6 December 2008


London ladies Gaelic Football will finish off what has been a great year, on Saturday December 6th 2008, after winning the All Ireland Junior Championship.

The camera's of TG4 will roll in to the London Irish Ground at Sunbury on Thames, for the live transmission of the London v Underdogs game, with the throw in timed for 5.00pm.

The Underdogs, is a team formed by TG4, a team of players who are of junior and intermediate standard and those on the verge of their full senior county teams, the team is formed for a television series, which follows their progress throughout eight weeks of training and warm up matches, the series can be viewed at 9.30 every Thursday evening, through the internet on www.tg4.ie., this weeks episode was filmed in London.

In fact there is a whole afternoon of ladies Gaelic Football, an Under 14 blitz with eight teams competing, The final of the Longford Shield between London and Warwickshire Under 16's and then the London Under 16's against their London Irish counterparts, in an unique Gaelic / Tag Rugby Exhibition

We are hoping that the Irish community will turn out in force to support this event

The success of the county team has created increased interest in ladies Gaelic Football which is the fastest growing sport in Ireland, London , as from the start of 2009 will have 10 teams, which is an increase from 6 just two years ago, there is also a big drive to promote the game at schools level which is the entire future of the game
