GLOBAL GAEILGE SECOND SUCCESS

The Group is delighted to announce that for the second year in succession it has won second prize in Glór na nGael's Global Gaeilge competition.

The committee thanks all students, members and friends of the Group for the part they all played in this success. Congratulations go to Cumann Gaeilge na hAstráile, Melbourne and Gaeltacht Cheanada who won the first and third prizes respectively.

CHRISTMAS CARD CONGATULATIONS

Congratulations are due to Group member Joe O'Reilly for his prize-winning entry in the

Glór na nGael Christmas card competition for Irish speakers living outside Ireland.

WELCOME

Marie Begley O'Shea, musician and Radio Kerry presenter, will be dropping in to classes at St. Kentigern's from 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday 2 February. All are welcome.

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE

Free events organised to date as part of the international celebration of the Irish language:

Saturday 13 March:

  • Irish language drop-in taster sessions at Manchester Town Hall

from 10.00 a.m. until noon and 1.00 until 3.00 p.m.

  • Club Cuideachta (live music and chat in Irish and English) from 8.00 p.m. at

The Briton's Protection, Great Bridgewater Street in the city centre.

Tickets are free but should be reserved in advance using the contact details below as capacity is limited.

Thursday 18 March:

  • Comhrá (conversation in Irish) from 9.00 p.m. at

The Jolly Angler pub, Ducie Street, near Piccadilly railway station.

Details of Book Club and Walking and Talking (Irish) will be confirmed. It is hoped that the latter will take place as a joint event with Conradh na Gaeilge on Sunday 21 March starting about noon at Chinley rail station and ending at Disley station.
