Saturday May 24th is the date and Salvatorian College, Harrow Weald is the place to be to enjoy some of the best Irish entertainment and support three worthwhile charities.
Triskellion Productions in association with St. Joseph's Parish, Harrow weald have produced this Gala event. Headlining the concert will the legendary Irish Entertainer Brendan Shine. Irish and Country singers come and go but Brendan the genius with the accordion shines on! He has adapted his entertainment to changing tastes ,yet giving to his audiences the 'old songs' and his many comical and lively 'sing-a- longs'. Don't miss this opportunity to see Brendan live in London.
This 'Celtic Strands' concert is part of the creative partnership between Gerry Molumby and Patrick O'Connell.
Gerry and Patrick will be your hosts for the evening and introducing the acts and the charities to you.
No concert would be complete without quality Irish Dancing and we are delighted that Lisa McCarthy is bringing some of our students along to enhance this Gala Irish Variety Concert.
All the support acts are local and we are especially delighted to have back on our bill Marie O'Brien. Marie and Peggy from the Irish Shop in Wealdstone have for years help out in promoting our concerts and selling tickets. But, Marie is a great entertainer in her own right. Sister of the late and greatly missed Dermot O'Brien, Marie has for many years performed with Dermot here in the UK and in the USA.
A professional entertainer like her brother Dermot and we are delighted that Marie is joining us in this concert with Brendan Shine.
Barry O'Sullivan who is involved in the following three charities said:
" We are so fortunate that Gerry and Patrick from Triskellion Productions are producing this show for us. We decided to divide the proceeds between 3 charities that have a very local connection with our parish here in St. Joseph's, Harrow Weald.
Mar Elias School, Galilee, exists to promote peace between Arab and Jew. Here children are educated with clear philosophy of pluralism and reconciliation. The Scholl was founded by Fr. Elias Chacour, now Archbishop of Galilee.
The Handicapped Children's Trust (HCPT) has for many years benefited from the 'Celtic Strands' Irish Concerts and we want to continue supporting these people who take the sick to Lourdes and the ethos is that these pilgrims are accommodated as much as possible with all other pilgrims.
HCPT exists to offer these sick children a holiday atmosphere and support while visiting the world famous Marian Shrine in Lourdes. Our pilgrims from North London get the opportunity to meet with children from all over the UK- Ireland - Eastern Europe and the West Indies.
World Youth Day is a pilgrimage initiated by the Holy Father Pope Benedict XV1 to gather young Catholics form all over the world to take part in a common celebration of faith. We hope to take some young parishioners to WYD in Sydney.
