Register to vote for the London Mayoral elections

The search for London's missing million.

Almost a million Londoners could miss out on their chance to have a say on how London is run because they are not registered to vote. People from some minority ethnic groups are a key target group as research by the Electoral Commission shows they are more likely not be on the electoral register.

With that the London-wide campaign, led by London Elects and The Electoral Commission, includes a whole series of eye-catching TV, radio, outdoor and print advertising and face-to-face marketing activity. Another key feature is Mark, a giant, pink ballot cross who is currently touring the capital to encourage people to register to vote.

Matt Bright, Communications Manager from London Elects, said: "Voting is your chance to have your say on the things that matter to you in your city. Don't let anything stop you voting - if you want to vote, you need to be registered first. That's the message of this campaign: Londoners need to register, it's quick and easy to do, and then you're all set to make your Mark on London."

To register and vote in the London elections you have to be at least 18 on 1 May, live in London and be a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen. The deadline for registration is 16 April - so it's still not too late.

A registration form can be downloaded from www.londonelects.org.uk or picked up at your local borough council office.
