Internationally renowned Irish storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy brings her new show of Irish mythology to the Unicorn Theatre in London this February. On the Heels of the Hound a storytelling show of ancient Irish myths will run from February 16th-22nd. It is geared towards families and for children age 7+.
Having previously played the Globe Theatre and the Barbican Theatre, Murphy is very happy to be returning to London.
"There is a great storytelling scene in London, with well known theatres such as the Barbican and the Unicorn regularly hosting seasons of storytelling. It is great to be involved with such professional venues that realise the value of the Traditional Arts" says Murphy.
On the Heels of the Hound features classic Irish mythology from Cuchulainn to Finn Mac Cool and beyond.
"Irish mythology has been a constant inspiration to me since I began storytelling. I am very happy to be infecting the English audiences with my passion for the ancient Irish tales" says Murphy.
This production is the storytellers first with fully production values.
"A full theatrical production of my work adds a new element" says Clare. "It increases the impact of the stories without removing any of the intimacy. For those who have seen me in more informal settings I think they will be surprised and delighted at the performance".
Told in a lively physical style, Murphy delivers myths into modern context. For newcomers to storytelling Murphy says "you have to see it to believe it"; so get yourselves along to the Unicorn for some roaring Irish warriors and wild ancient tales fit to set the heart racing and the blood boiling.
