An Annotated Bibliography on Health and Related Issues
This is the report of a major conference organised by the Federation of Irish
Societies and the SHARE Project at the King's Fund in November 1996, which
brought together Irish community organisations and purchasers and providers of
health and social care services. The purpose of the conference was to raise the
profile of Irish needs, including information needs, and to promote
consideration of the ways in which access to health and social care services by
Irish people might be improved. The report contains the proceedings of the
conference, including contributions from the British Co-Chair of the
British-Irish Interparliamentary Body and from the Irish Ambassador: in addition
to an important policy statement delivered by the Vice-Chair of the Commission
for Racial Equality and a presentation from Seeromanie Harding of ONS on the
Health second generation Irish people in England and Wales. Reports of workshops
on mental health issues, alcohol and drug misuse, older people, and health
promotion highlight best practice and contain a series of recommendations from
the workshops directed both to health care commissioners ands Irish agencies.
